Hand Embroidered Basket Design

Tuesday 26 January 2016

Hello and Good morning,

Today we have a basket design. It's a bit tattered and unfinished, but it is still a pretty design, great for the Transfer-Eze.

The original design measures 6-1/8 inches x 9 inches. I don't know where the design came from or who started the work, but I hope you enjoy it.

Do something fun today!

Southern Lady Hand Embroidered Dish Cloth

Thursday 21 January 2016

Hello and Welcome,

I would like to share with you a southern lady design. You can tell this cloth has a few imperfections. I think, maybe, this was originally a dish towel and maybe, the lady who did this work just couldn't toss it so she made it into a dish cloth - just thinkin', 'cause it is a very sweet design. The original measures 6 inches wide by 8 1/2 inches high. The outline of the dress is done in white floss so I went over it with pencil. I didn't think the white would show up well enough on the Transfer-Eze.

I hope you enjoy this design. I love these little ladies in whatever form I can get them.

Have some fun!
Terrie

Hand Embroidered Southern Lady Pillowcase

Tuesday 19 January 2016

Hello,

Tonight I would like to share with you a sweet southern lady pillowcase. The original design measures 7 inches high by 9 inches wide. This would be a great design to use with the Transfer-Eze.

I do not know who made the original design or who did the work, but I hope you enjoy it!

Have a good night and enjoy your day tomorrow!

Friday/Saturday Finds 2

Monday 18 January 2016

Hello and Welcome,

My husband, son-in-law, and I went to a few estate sales on Saturday. They are not having as many right now as they have in the summer months, but we had fun and this is what I found, well, at least the vintage(y) things I found. I won't show you the Corelle plates or the tongs, okay.

Doesn't this little dish just belong at a tea party? It is so sweet. I think this was the best find of the day!

This picture does not do this lace justice. It is a very pretty rose pink. I can't wait to find the perfect project to use it on - a pincushion somehow?

These are pillowcases and I will share them with you in closer detail at a later date.

This is a very sweet dresser scarf/table runner. The lady who did these embroideries did beautiful work.

Oops, there's the tongs. These bands and lids fit on mason jars and just looked like they would be fun to have on hand, you just never know when you might need a cute little gift - maybe a jar stacked full of chocolate chip cookies with a cute little lid just might cheer someone up.

I think this is a handkerchief, if it is it is a large one. It is so pretty though, I could not resist it. I was thinking I might use it like a doily under a dish or a tiered tray on the tea table.

Just a simple little handkerchief. I cannot resist them. They are all so sweet with their little works of art. I will show you a close-up of this one at another time.

I apologize for the pictures. I am not, nor have I ever claimed to be a photographer. My children do not all have flat heads as some might presume from their childhood pictures.

And, in my defense, I would like to say that our house has cave lighting, or maybe it would be more positive to call it romantic lighting, either way it does not make for nice pictures. I promise to work on this problem. Please, sit back, pull your tray into an upright position, and bear with me.

Thank you for visiting and I hope you have some fun today!

Peacock Hand Embroidery and Transfer-Eze

Friday 15 January 2016

Hello and Good Evening,

Tonight I have a very sweet peacock embroidery for you. There are two peacocks on this piece as it is a dresser scarf or I suppose it could be used as a table runner. It is sweet as it is, but I could definitely see this embroidered in teal and purple variegated flosses with a gold filament thread ran throughout.

This design measures 6" wide x 5 1/2" high. I cannot give credit as I do not know who created the design or who did the embroidery.

The easiest way to use this design is to download it to your computer and print the design on a product called Transfer-Eze. Transfer-Eze is like a very thin sheet of water soluble stabilizer on a sheet of printer paper which you can run through your printer - this opens up a lot of possibilities does it not?

This is what this design looked like after printing it out on the Transfer-Eze. Next, roughly and generously cut out the design, peel off the paper, and place it where you would like the design to be on your fabric.

The Transfer-Eze will stick to your fabric like this and you can just stitch right through the Transfer-Eze and your fabric. You could even use the original colors if you would like. When you are finished stitching just soak your piece in water and the Transfer-Eze will dissolve away, just like magic. Your fabric and threads do need to be washable though.

Transfer-Eze is fun and very easy to use. Give it a try.

I hope you had a good day today and good night,
Terrie

Swan Pillow Hand Embroidery

Thursday 14 January 2016

Hello,
I love vintage hand embroideries and I buy them whenever I can. They are just too sweet to keep to myself, so I would like to share them with you.

This sweet design is on a little pillow case. The design measures 6" x 6 1/4". I do not know who made the original design or who did the beautiful work so I cannot give due credit, but I do hope you enjoy it.

Have a good night!

Friday/Saturday Finds

Tuesday 12 January 2016

Well Hello,
On Saturday I went estate/thrift store shopping with my daughter, son-in-law, and grandson. We had fun and this is what I found:

I thought these were so pretty. I think they are really espresso cups, but they will probably become pincushions.

This is hard to see but on the tea cup is says The Lords Prayer and it has the Lords Prayer on the saucer - very pretty, but the tea cup is chipped a tiny bit and cracked. I bought it with the intentions of making a pincushion, but I am not sure about gluing the cup to the saucer, you wouldn't be able to read the saucer, so, maybe I will pair the cup with another saucer and use the saucer as a plate? - two for the price of one, yah!
!
I was so excited to find these two - two tiered trays! They just look like spring and Easter do they not? What a reason to have a tea party, just to use these!

Enjoy your day!
Terrie
